As a woman who designs for women, I would be remiss if I didn't at least touch upon International Women's Day and Women's History Month. I recently lost a cousin from an illness at a too-young age. At 48, she was fearless, vivacious, empathetic, patient and just a wonderful woman. We celebrated her life with a wake and funeral service this month where I was surrounded by so many wonderful women I am lucky to call my family members. We are mothers, sisters, cousins, daughters, teachers, businesswomen, dancers, artists, actresses, soccer players and anything we want to be. And I look at my friends who are killing it in whatever fields they are in: parenting, research and studying, medicine, floral design, marketing, journalism, TV and film, cooking, event production, clothing and accessories design, and so much more. I think about the women I'm designing for, bad ass women who can make the choice to start a family or not and be comfortable with that choice and look stylish while conquering their individual worlds. I am so happy to be a woman at a time of such social change, when we can make whatever choices we feel are best for us and our families and when we can fight for equality loudly with the support of so many others. To quote one of my favorite women, Maya Angelou: "I'm a woman phenomenally. Phenomenal woman, that's me."
